Terminal 1 is the first stop for all trains. It leads to, of course, Terminal 1 at JFK Airport. At one point, the station used to be called 'Terminals 1 & 2' to account for the soon to be demolished Terminal 2 station. Despite the seemingly tedious nature of this stop, it has been through some changes. Upstairs, where passengers use the walkways to connect to the terminal, there used to be a door on the right leading to a parking garage. As of the writing of this article, due to renovations going on at JFK Airport, that parking garage no longer exists. Also, at some point, the station closed, then reopened as a terminus, and then was once again a loop station. The major change that is nice to mention, is that when the trains are going towards Terminal 8, it seems to go under parts of the terminal, which is pretty cool, and a massive departure from how it used to be back when the AirTrain opened. Other than that, if you're in a rush to catch your Korean Air flight, come to this station, and watch the gap between the train and the platform.
